Accent: What is Density? Kit

Model solids, liquids, and gases and watch how they behave to show what density means in the real world. Students will create models of a substance in different phases and test models for “sinkability” and “floatability” and relate this to density. By modeling gases, liquids, and solids, students will realize that it is volume, not weight, that determines the behavior of a substance. The kit includes Density ID set with 12 unique samples in linseed-coated hardwood base (aluminum, brass, copper, acrylic Pyrex™, rubber, Delrin™ plastic, PVC, Teflon™, tekaform, poplar, and oak), box of 250 toothpicks, 300 blue foam squares, 12 plastic containers, twelve cans of Magic Dough, and instructions. Grades 6-12.
