How Do Organisms Respond to Stimuli? Lab Investigation
PRODUCT DETAILS
Your students will get a first-hand look at Euglena, its structure, and movements. They’ll also examine this green flagellate’s adaptive behavior patterns, or “taxes,” toward light of various intensities and even determine which colors of the visible spectrum most affect the behavior of the algae. In addition, students will determine the behavior of Euglena toward weak acids, glucose, gravity, salt, heat, and cold. Investigation includes a revolutionary Euglena MicroLIVE® culture which remains stable at room temperature for months, thereby eliminating the need to pre-order perishable materials. Your students will: develop skills of scientific observation, observe organism behavior and response to light and other stimuli, and determine which parts of the visible light spectrum bring about the strongest and weakest behavioral response. Requires a stereo microscope and a compound microscope. For a class of 40. Grades 7-10.
