Using graphic imagery, interviews with cancer patients, and current and former teen tobacco users, this program combines hard facts with an X-Files take-off to present the truth about smoking and spit tobacco. Emphasizes that the best course of action is to not start using tobacco in the first place. Includes interviews with cancer victims who have to speak with the aid of an amplifier held to their throat and a spit tobacco user who has lost half of his jaw. Several teens also provide further evidence of the drug’s addictiveness by relating their unsuccessful attempts to quit. 28 minutes. Grades 6-12. Copyright 1999.
