An effective introduction to proper techniques of graphing and a powerful way to connect a physical science concept (velocity) with a mathematical idea (slope). Three transparent plastic tubes containing colored fluids of three different viscosities illustrate how a bubble in each tube rises at a constant speed which depends on the type of fluid, the angle at which the tube is inclined, and temperature. Reproducible pages in the instruction manual guide students through the steps of data collection and analysis. Follow-up questions, as well as notes to the teacher and answers are also included. Set includes three “speed of a bubble” tubes and instruction manual - the only additional items needed are a metric ruler and a clock with a sweep second hand. Grades 8 and up.
