Provide students with an exciting hands-on activity for uncovering and identifying actual fossils. Four actual fossils, up to 500 million years old, are buried in each clay “rock” for students to discover and identify. Students use the tools provided to uncover the fossils and identify them using the set of fossil identification cards. Further studies can be found in the two booklets included. Lab includes 15 clay fossil-bearing rocks, 15 sets of excavation tools, the fossil deck of identification cards, A Teacher’s Guide to Fossils, and Fossils - A Student Reference Book.
