PRODUCT DETAILS
This kit allows students to explore the physiological effects of common drugs and active chemical agents produced by organisms using Daphnia* as a model organism. Changes in behavior (nervous and circulatory system activity) may be observed in the Daphnia when the organism is exposed to dilute solutions of aspirin, caffeine, adrenaline, nicotine, ethyl alcohol, and lactic acid. Supporting materials permit student study of the reversibility of drug influences on behavior, organism response versus dosage level, and the classification of drugs as stimulant or depressant. Complete for 30 students working in pairs. Requires a microscope.
*Daphnia is not included in the kit. Order LM00039M.
